Assisi Central School

Assisi Pre-Primary School was started on June 1, 2011 in Shanthi Dham, the Provincial House of Mangalore Province, using the hall as classrooms while land conversion and building licences were pursued in the Shanthi Farm campus. Sr Benedicta Fernandes was appointed headmistress, assisted by Sisters Saritha Crasta and Jenevi Sanctis. Sr Lilly Pinto, Deputy Secretary of UFES, took keen interest in developing the school.

The nursery school included a play home, LKG and UKG with a strength of 47. The standard of education and the activities organised made a tremendous impact on the locality, and the strength rose to 107 the following year. By June 2012 the new school building was ready and classes were shifted there. Sr Juliana Pais took over the administration, and in 2013 a play park was constructed in front of the school.

The year 2012 left an indelible mark in the history of the Mangalore Province, as the cherished dream of many Sisters was realised in the Assisi (CBSE) School on June 1, 2012, opening from first to fifth standard with a strength of 89. The ground floor was inaugurated by Rev. Sr Lenita D'Souza, the Provincial, and blessed by Most Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese.

On August 15, 2012 a full-fledged computer laboratory with 25 computers — a generous donation of the Generalate — was inaugurated by Rev. Sr Susheela Sequeira. On June 12, 2013 the first floor was inaugurated by Rev. Sr Doreen D'Souza, Superior General, and blessed by Fr Vincent D'Souza. Smart classes were introduced to make the curriculum effective, and the No Objection Certificate for CBSE affiliation was obtained.
